B2—Visitor and Tourist Visas

1. Things to Consider

   • If you would like to visit the United States, you must first apply for a B-2, Visitor and Tourist visa.
   • B-2 Visas are granted for tourist, social, relative or family visits and health purposes.
   • The B-2 visa allows you to enter the United States on a “temporary basis”—generally 6 months. The period of time you will be allowed to stay in the United State will be noted in your I-94, Arrival and Departure Record.
   • You may be granted a B-2 visa if you can prove the purpose of your temporary visit to the United States and that you intend to return back to your home country.
   • With the B-2 visa, you are not allowed to work in the United States or seek any employment opportunity.
